Wentworth-Douglass Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) will host ‘The Beat Goes On – Understanding AFib in Women,’ a Women’s Heart Health Virtual Event on Thursday, February 25, at 6:00 p.m. through Zoom. Atrial fibrillation (AFib) is a type of arrhythmia (irregular heart rhythm) where the upper and lower chambers of the heart are not coordinated causing the heart to beat irregularly. AFib is the cause of one in seven strokes in the United States – and many women have AFib and do not know they have it.
The Wentworth-Douglass Hospital Center for Heart Health, with locations in Dover and Portsmouth, cares for the unique cardiovascular health needs of women. In collaboration with the Mass General Corrigan Women’s Heart Health Program, the center provides expert diagnosis and treatment for a wide range of heart conditions specific to women.
