Finding Fish
Kent Stephens' Stage Force presents the premiere reading of the play, Finding Fish, a story about sustainability in the Gulf of Maine.
Finding Fish spins out its sailor’s yarn in a rough fishing cottage on the Maine coast in a future where the fish have disappeared. But one fisherman keeps reeling them in, and his scientist brother is determined to uncover his secret. What Michael finds instead is Peter’s mysterious new wife, a stunningly beautiful woman who speaks in single syllables and swims naked in the freezing, storm-tossed North Atlantic. Michael claims he’s come to beg Peter to share his wisdom with the world, but there’s a darker story behind his arrival on Little Bay Road. Tensions rise with the storm outside the window and old rivalries are resurrected as the brothers clash over the fate of the seas, its fishermen, and its creatures.
The 90-minute reading will be followed by a discussion with playwright Carlyle Brown.
