Diana's Baths
Since the 1860's the scenic waterfalls near Bartlett, New Hampshire have been known as Diana's Baths, evoking Ovid's story of Diana, goddess of the hunt, who punishes Actaeon for inadvertently seeing her with her female followers. Lincoln Perry, inspired by the beauty of the falls and the topicality of the myth, has done dozens of studies in gouache, oil pastel and oils, both on location and in the studio. His experiments in composition, color and choreography culminate in four large oils, giving us a vivid insight into how these choices were made. Lincoln will give a gallery talk on Sunday, August 7, 3:00 PM
