THE LEGACY OF JONATHAN SAYWAR: With Honor and Reputation Sustained
Walk in the footsteps of Jonathan Sayward, eighteenth-century entrepreneur, civic leader, and Loyalist, on this special tour of Old York Historical Society and Historic New England sites. Enjoy a special guided tour of the Remick Gallery and Hancock Warehouse, then travel by shuttle to see Historic New England's Sayward-Wheeler House, where Sayward hosted John Adams and "heard the hourly chiming of the clock" during a time of great trial, the year before the American Revolution. Enjoy light refreshments on the Sayward-Wheeler House porch overlooking the harbor, then return by shuttle to the Remick Gallery or enjoy a leisurely walk by Fisherman’s Walk. The tour concludes with a visit to Sayward’s grave site at the Old Burying Ground.
