Rescue Run: Race for Marine Mammals
On April 25, 2015, join us at the Seacoast Science Center in Rye, NH for a 5k trail race and kids fun run to help raise awareness and funds for our Marine Mammal Rescue and ocean education efforts! The Rescue Run: Race for Marine Mammals begins with a chip-timed, 5k trail race (there is also an untimed 5k walk option) in Odiorne Point State Park, created for the Seacoast Science Center by Eastern Mountain Sports' Extreme Team captain and 2006 US Adventure Racing national champion, Jennifer Shultis. This is not a pavement pounding road race: you'll run through the forest, by the rocky shore, across a sandy beach, and alongside historic military fortifications. Prizes will be awarded in age and gender categories from 6 to 70+. Note: Strollers are not permitted on the 5k route. Back this year by popular demand; the kids fun run! Children can sign up for the 300 yard dash or ½ mile option. All children registered for the fun run will receive a prize. The Rescue Run is a family-friendly event that is a great way to get outside after a long winter. All funds raised will help run our marine mammal rescue effort and raise awareness for a healthy ocean. The festivities continue after the Rescue Run: Race for Marine Mammals 5k and kids fun run with prizes, raffles, music, face painting, a beach cleanup, and earth friendly activities between 10am-12pm. We hope you will join us for a fun-filled morning!
