Rescue Run: Race for Marine Mammals 5K Trail Run and Kid’s Fun Run at the Seacoast Science Center in Odiorne Point State Park April 22, 2017 9am The Seacoast Science Center’s Rescue Run: Race for Marine Mammals, held April 22, 2017, features a popular 5k chip-timed trail race and un-timed walk through Odiorne Point State Park. Now in its 9th year, the popular Race follows the 5k cross-country trail route created by Jennifer Shultis, captain of Team Eastern Mountain Sports, 2006 US Adventure Racing National Champions. You’ll run through the forest, by the rocky shore, across a sandy beach, and alongside historic military fortifications. Prizes are awarded to top finishers in age and gender categories, as well as the overall male and female runner. Please note: strollers are not permitted on the 5k route and dogs are not allowed in the park. The Kid’s Fun Run included a 300-yard dash or ½ mile run. All children registered for the fun run receive a prize. All proceeds from the Rescue Run support the Center’s Marine Mammal Rescue program. The mock rescue teaches children how the NH Marine Mammal Rescue responds, protects, and rescues seals and other marine mammals on the shore.
